How many G's does a NASCAR pull?
Collisions. With the high speed and power of stock cars come the risks of dangerous collisions. Some of the hardest crashes in NASCAR register around 80 G's – that is, 80 times the acceleration of gravity that holds you to the planet. For perspective, amusement park rides top out around 6 G's.
The modern NHRA Top Fuel dragster accelerates harder and pulls more G's than any [unclassified] fighter jet launch. At 5 G's, there's no wheeled vehicle on earth that even comes close.
1G is the acceleration we feel due to the force of gravity. It's what keeps our feet firmly planted on the ground.
When the driver applies more pressure than necessary to the vehicle's gas pedal to accelerate its speed, we're talking about another aggressive driving habit – rapid or harsh acceleration. In those moments, they will feel a strong G-force pulling them toward the vehicle's dashboard.

Meaning that during an F1 race the drivers will experience up to 4 or 5 G's routinely under braking and cornering or where the car might slow down to low speed from its top speed of 300-350km/h in only a couple seconds.
US air force pioneer John Stapp holds the record for highest horizontal acceleration, set in a series of rocket-sledge experiments in the late 1940s. In one test he withstood 46.2 g.
A witness said it was "absolutely inconceivable anybody could go that fast, then just stop, and survive." But Stapp did—in fact, he went on to live another 45 years, dying quietly at home in 1999 at the age of 89—and he experienced a record-breaking 46.2 G's.
If a pilot pulls 10 G's, it would be his weight x 10 and the sum would be the amount of weight pressing against his body. If the pilot weighted 200 pounds and pulled 10 G's, 2,000 pounds of pressure would be exerted on his body.
Stapp was dubbed the “Fastest Man on Earth.” The sled was stopped in 1.4 seconds, subjecting Stapp to 46.2 Gs -- equivalent to hitting a brick wall at 50 miles per hour.
Can you pass out from too many Gs?
However, it really depends on the person and what they're looking for in their flying experience. When the body experiences too much G-force, a person might become lightheaded or even pass out for several seconds—also referred to as "G-LOC" or gravity-induced loss of consciousness.
Acceleration is described in units of the force called “Gs.” A pilot in a steep turn may experience forces of acceleration equivalent to many times the force of gravity. This is especially true in military fighter jets and high-performance, aerobatic aircraft where the acceleration forces may be as high as 9 Gs.

With acceleration at 0.3g, reaching 700 mph may only require 15 kilometers, or around nine miles, of track.
Normal humans can withstand no more than 9 g's, and even that for only a few seconds. When undergoing an acceleration of 9 g's, your body feels nine times heavier than usual, blood rushes to the feet, and the heart can't pump hard enough to bring this heavier blood to the brain.
standard gravity | miles per hour per second |
---|---|
30 | 658.10553865426 |
40 | 877.47405153901 |
50 | 1096.8425644238 |
60 | 1316.2110773085 |
For example: An acceleration of 1 g equates to a rate of change in velocity of approximately 35 kilometres per hour (22 mph) for each second that elapses.
How fast is G-force in mph? One G of force is equivalent to 22 miles per hour.
What is 10G? Not to be confused with the cellular industry's 5G (meaning fifth generation), the “G” in 10G means gigabits per second, a blazing fast internet speed. 10G is the cable industry's vision for delivering a remarkable 10 gigabits per second to homes in the U.S. and around the globe.
Now, NASCAR drivers are speeding in excess of 200 mph around high banked turns and can experience up to three G's. That amount of G-force can make a 160-pound driver feel like their 480 pounds in turns.
On the other hand, an expert pilot in command of an Extra 300 stunt plane can pull 10 Gs, even though the plane has a top speed of just over 200 miles per hour. This is due to the plane's extreme maneuverability and construction that can withstand G-forces significantly higher than even 10 Gs.
Whats the most G's someone has pulled?
US air force pioneer John Stapp holds the record for highest horizontal acceleration, set in a series of rocket-sledge experiments in the late 1940s. In one test he withstood 46.2 g.
Under 9G's, the world appears to shrink until it looks like you're viewing it through a toilet paper roll. Blood is being pulled out of your head towards your legs and arms, resulting in the loss of peripheral vision.
How fast is G-force in mph? One G of force is equivalent to 22 miles per hour.
To withstand "g-forces" of up to 10g , caused by suddenly pulling out of a steep dive, fighter jet pilots train on a "human centrifuge." 10g is an acceleration of 98 m/s2 98 m / s 2 .
Any time that an object changes its velocity faster than gravity can change it, the forces will be greater than one g. At zero g, you would feel weightless. And past 100g, you're almost certainly dead. Forces that intense can crush bones and squash organs.
If a pilot pulls 10 G's, it would be his weight x 10 and the sum would be the amount of weight pressing against his body. If the pilot weighted 200 pounds and pulled 10 G's, 2,000 pounds of pressure would be exerted on his body.
