How many men survived Osgiliath?
By morning, the Men of Gondor lost almost 350 of their men and then abandon the city and retreat with only a few hundred survivors.
The companies from outlying provinces of Gondor that came to the aid of Minas Tirith amounted to nearly 3,000 defenders. Prominent among these was a 700-strong contingent led by Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth, Denethor's brother-in-law.
Lotr wikia says there was 2,000 gondorians + 3,000 from south gondor, while Tolkien gateway says 5,000 gondorians + 6,000 from south gondor.
The army that Théoden took to Minas Tirith it was just a fraction. He could summon ten thousand men, but he would not leave his strongholds unguarded, so only he chooses only six thousand..
Faramir returned to Osgiliath at around nightfall and had mustered about 1,500 Gondorian troops and Ithilien Rangers.
The garrison of Helm's Deep consisted of some 1,000 men, but around 1,000 more defenders had arrived from across Rohan by the time of the battle. The enemy, Saruman's army, consisted of at least 10,000 Orcs and men, most marching from Isengard to Helm's Deep, and others heading to the Fords of Isen.
Rhûn's main Easterling army of 200,000 Easterlings were one of the largest armies ever gathered in the Middle-earth, and the largest army in the north-eastern parts of Middle-earth.
The battle before the Gates of Mordor, discussed above, gives a clear estimate of Sauron's remain ing strength at 40,000-50,000 Orcs, not counting slaves and minor garrisons of Mordoris strong points.
The Muster was known to the Rohirrim in their own language as an éoherë, or 'horse-army'. In principle, a full éoherë would have consisted of one hundred éoreds, themselves each consisting of 120 Riders, so that the King of Rohan would have 12,000 warriors under his command.
There is a definite figure for the army of the Rohirrim that came to Gondor's defence; it consisted of 6,000 riders, and a full 2,000 were killed in the battle, including Théoden.
How many orcs are in Minas Morgul?
The Morgûl Orcs fought under the command of Gothmog of Morgûl in the battle of Cair Andros, Osgiliath, Minas Tirith and several other campaigns. It it's high, Minas Morgûl was home to more than 30.000 men and Orcs, not counting additional troops who would be drawn and supplied at the City in times of great campaigns.
The Full Muster of the Riders of the Mark, a century before Théoden's time, was reckoned to be 12,000 mounted warriors divided into a hundred éoreds of 120 cavalrymen each. Such a huge army had never actually been assembled in one place, at least outside Rohan's borders, but it was theoretically possible.
While the movie mentions 10k strong, this was the most conservative estimate by Merry. My guess is that Isengard's armies numbered some 15k or even 20k strong considering Saruman had previously losses in the Battle of the fords of the Isen and an army must've remained in Isengard.
This force included Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, and Théoden's nephew Éomer. This army joined with Rohan's garrison of around 1000 at the Hornburg. The army was reinforced by 1000 scattered Rohirrim troops from the Westfold rallied by the Wizard Gandalf and led by Erkenbrand.

Description | White city of seven levels |

A army of 600,000 Orcs, Trolls, Wargs, Haradrim and Easterlings. Note: The contents of this article are based upon Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The Siege of Minas Tirith was an attempt made by the forces of the Dark Lord Sauron as part of the War of the Ring to capture the city of Minas Tirith.
At the time of the battle of Minas Tirith Gondor's population was in decline and they had lost significant territory compared to their height and they could no longer field the armies of old. Most of their Soldiers were deployed elsewhere (Belfelas and Dol Amroth for sure, but likely other places too).
Which gives us a very rough total of 15,000 to 37,500.
In The Two Towers, he was sent by Elrond and led an army of five hundred Elves from Lothlórien to Helm's Deep. They were stationed on the battlements and behind the Deeping Wall. They held off the Isengard assault until a bomb was set off and destroyed the walls.
The entire force of Orcs and Men that defended Isengard were destroyed, which may have been around one or two thousand.
How many riders did Gandalf bring to Helm's Deep?
There were roughly 3,000 rohirrim defending Helm's Deep. This force consisted of Helm's Deep's original garrison, as well as the soldiers that Théoden brought with him. When Gandalf showed up, he brought with him 1,000 more rohirrim as well as an army of huorns (small ents).
Plassey. Clive's greatest victory was at Plassey on 23 June 1757. The Nawab, having resumed the war, commanded 50,000 men.
The Army of the Reach is said to be the largest army in all of Westeros. House Tyrell of Highgarden is in command of the army, controlled mainly by the Lord or Lady of Highgarden, otherwise known as the Warden of the South.
According to Megasthenes, Chandragupta Maurya built an army consisting of 30,000 cavalry, 9000 war elephants, and 600,000 infantry, which was the largest army known in the ancient world.
The Uruk-hai are stronger, larger, and can take the sunlight much better than the Orcs. In the Peter Jackson films, the Orcs actually conspire with Saruman at Isengard to create the Uruk-hai, as there are scenes of them overseeing the physical creation of the new soldiers.
Sauron during the War of the Ring is estimated to have a force of at least 320.000 men, orks, trolls and war-beasts and nine Nazgûl. The number of Morgoth's orks is estimated to be around 1.000. 000–1.500.
Certainly, the destruction of Sauron didn't result in the death of all the orcs. The movie version of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King makes a point of showing some still alive as they flee the Black Gates in terror.

In the movie, during the last debate, Gandalf makes it clear that there is a force of ten thousand Orcs at the Black Gate, but the Host of the West is unquantified - they appear to be a few hundred.
Galadriel immediately becomes suspicious and soon confronts Halbrand. He concedes that, yes, he is Sauron, and hopes to restore order to Middle-earth.
Did all of Rohan go to Helms Deep?
Proceeding the battle, the entire city of Edoras is evacuated to Helm's Deep, along with all the people of Rohan, rather than merely the refugees of the Westfold, and Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli accompany King Théoden and his people there.
Shagrat was an Uruk commanding the garrison of the Tower of Cirith Ungol during the War of the Ring.
Uruk-hai (for short, Uruks) were brutal warriors of Middle-earth, and the strongest breed of Orc. In The Lord of the Rings, the term Uruk-hai refers chiefly to those bred in Isengard, and in one context are alternatively called Isengarders, while Uruks from Mordor are called Black Uruks or Uruks of Mordor.
In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, there are 138 possible Uruk names and 456 possible titles for said Uruks. In total, there are 62,928 possible names for the Uruk-hai.
So the overall armed forces available to Gondor were probably just as large as the 10,000 in Rohan's army — only a part of the Rohan army (6,000) came to the battle at Minas Tirith as they needed to protect their flank.
Gríma (voiceover): "Helm's Deep has but one weakness. It's outer wall is solid rock for except for a small culvert in space, which is little more than a drain."
Where there only the ~20 men of Rohan who survived, leaving all the elves, villagers and other soldiers dead?
In the novels Legolas was the only elf who in Helm's deep, and he survived.
Although he was counteracting the law of Rohan by letting Aragorn go free, Éomer decided to trust him and he even lent him and his companions two horses, Hasufel and Arod, to help them in their search, but he asked them to prove his trust by bringing them back to Edoras when their search was over.
When Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas meet Eomer and his riders in the plains as they are pursuing the orcs taking Merry and Pippin to Isengard, it becomes very quickly evident that Eomer greatly admired Boromir, and had heard the many legends about his heroism, but had seldom actually met the man.
Why was Éomer not at Helm's Deep?
Éomer was locked up after returning home to tell the tale of killing the Orcs and Half-Orcs who were crossing Rohan and then meeting Aragorn and friends and breaking the rules by loaning them horses.
Not all of the Gondorians were Dúnedain, however: there were also older populations of Men in Gondor whose descendants had dwelt there long before the sons of Elendil forged the lands around the White Mountains into a nation.
During the War of the Ring the beacons were lit when Minas Tirith came under siege, and as the Rohirrim rode to Gondor's aid they passed all seven beacons by on their way east.
In conclusion, it seems plausible that there are some 245,000 to 290,000 Elves in Beleriand in 150 F.A. This number rises to 410,000 to 480,000 in 450 F.A.. Throughout Middle-earth and Valinor Elven population can be estimated as 800,000 to 1,000,000 in 450 F.A..
At its height Osgiliath would probably have had a population around 500,000 (equivalent to Constantinople at its height), but after long centuries of decline, plague and war, by the time of LotR the population of Minas Tirith would quite probably have declined to around 50,000, with the entire Pelennor and near ...
The Rohirrim relief force numbered 6,000.
Certainly, the destruction of Sauron didn't result in the death of all the orcs. The movie version of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King makes a point of showing some still alive as they flee the Black Gates in terror.
After the War, Osgiliath was apparently rebuilt, [source?] but it never became as great as it once was. Minas Tirith remained the capital and King's city.
A gathering of the forces of the Rohirrim
The Muster was known to the Rohirrim in their own language as an éoherë, or 'horse-army'. In principle, a full éoherë would have consisted of one hundred éoreds, themselves each consisting of 120 Riders, so that the King of Rohan would have 12,000 warriors under his command.
Peter Jackson wanted to show a hideously deformed orc, one that would aptly convey the "ugliness" of Mordor. The upper left side of Gothmog's body is swollen and pock-marked from a disease of some sort, as described by the design department. His pale, yellow skin may also be a consequence of this illness.
Were there any female Orcs?
Yes, female orcs do exist in Middle-earth.
In a letter to one, Mrs Munby, JRR Tolkien wrote that female orcs do exist but that we've not seen them because they don't fight in Sauron's armies. “There must have been orc-women,” Tolkien wrote.
For orcs, the age at which they're officially "adult" comes a little later than humans. Orcs reach maturity at about age 18-20. Middle age is around age 40 or so, old age at 65, venerable age at 80, and they rarely live beyond 100 years of age.
Regardless of the theory you ascribe to, Orcs were created in the depths of time by Morgoth, the original Dark Lord of Middle-earth. Because of that, it makes sense that Orcs would despise the Sun -- they were created by evil for evil purposes. Thus, they belonged in the darkness, which is a common literary motif.
Tens of thousands. Possibly as many as 50,000. LOTR 'Return of the King'.
