What a man really thinks in his heart?
The Bible (Proverbs 23:7) tells us that as a man "thinketh in his heart, so is he." Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius (121-180 AD) concluded, "We become what we think about.
The proverb here warns about deceitful hosts seeking your harm. Here is Solomon's whole warning, “Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Wise people seek wisdom and humbly accept it. Foolish people are careless, lazy, or arrogant. Solomon also notes the importance of perspective, and once again commends those who sincerely seek godly wisdom.

It is not good to each much honey: Honey is an example of one of God's great gifts. In the world of Solomon's day sweets were rare and nothing was sweeter than honey. Yet, overindulgence in even a good gift like honey is not good. Self-control must be practiced even with good things.

In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads: O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. The New International Version translates the passage as: You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good?
Excellent and Worthy
Paul calls us to dwell on the things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellent and praiseworthy. In this passage, Paul says we need to focus on the good and honorable things in the world as opposed to the lies that Satan tries to weave into the world.
Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:29, CSB: No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear.

The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction. This proverb discusses two positive qualities — “wise hearts” and “gracious words (literally “lips)” — that we should all want in our lives. Results from being this way are also mentioned…and they're good, too!
It's interesting how Jesus phrased the command to “let not your hearts be troubled.” He didn't simply ask his disciples to try and avoid being fearful or anxious. The fact that he tells them to avoid allowing their hearts to be troubled is evidence that we have control over how we respond to the burdens of life.
So, taken together, these verses suggest – when I see my enemy struggling with something (hungry, thirsty), I should do something to help (food, drink). In doing so, I can really destroy my enemy – destroy them by making them my friend. As the modern wise saying goes – “kill them with kindness!”
